Working in the mornings! That's usually when old farts decide to do their groceries and instead of cash or credit/ debit card they want to use a freaking check!! Get with the times.

Some write so ****ing slow that the customers behind them move to another line because the old fart taking all day. Then I had one old woman hold up my line for a long time then wanted to converse afterwards. >.>

Some are half deaf so I have to basically scream so they can hear me. But I do want to thank those who come into the store and already have their checks filled out.

To you old bats that don't fill out your checks ahead of time....F**k you!

I like mornings better because you don't have to ID as many people.

Don't worry, before you know it, you'll be 70 years old, and people will be complaining about how slow and cantankerous *you* are :P

In the deli we get old people at all hours and they're so picky about everything. And they get offended if you can't make out what they're whispering to you.  Why can't old people speak up? Unless, heaven forbid, you set them off somehow. Then they start crabbing loudly.

My grandma is 70 and she is no where near slow. It all comes down to how you take care of yourself.

You'll get old one day, then we can say the same thing about you....

Jfyi: you do NOT want to let me hear you say that about my grandparents. EVER.

Don't you have the printers that can print checks for the customers? Just ask them if they'd like for you to print it if you do. Most agree to it.

Not all agree to it, even if asked. They believe the computer won't do it right, or you'll have it filled out for the right amount but somehow actually charge like 47 times that much to their account.

One time I was bagging and the customer wanted the check filled out. The cashier said sure, he'd have the computer print it. Customer says no, the cashier needs to fill it out. I immediately stepped in and told the guy we'd be happy to fill it out but the machine would be doing it. Then he starts to go on about how it takes longer to process when the machine fills it out. I set him straight there and let him know with 110% certainty it processes exactly the same as if it were hand written, if not faster. Facepalm...

I get when people say elderly should be respected and given extra understanding. I respect that. But for me personally, I expect more from someone middle age or older because they have had time to figure more out in life, not be more ignorant.

i'm not one to pick on the elderly like our original poster did but....

I recall several older people getting real fussy over the thickness of their deli meats and cheeses. Now I can understand saying something if you asked for shaved and you get a medium slice. But they would throw a tizzy fit over slicing it thin and they get it thin but its not their version of thin. ITS DAMN DELI MEAT!

and don't they realize what happens with all that waste just because it is one millimeter off? my gawd. drove me batty to the point I went dumping trash cans all over the deli floor one day. ha haaaaa haaaaaaaaa    biggrin

Oldef or younger....the ones that won't speak loud and clear really do annoy me. Then get pissy when you have to ask a third or 4 th time to repeat. The fans on the cases are so loud.

Older or younger, I work at the Floral department at my Kroger and I cannot f'ing stand early in the morning someone buying a $4.00 flower with a $100 bill. I even ask and give puppy dog eyes of "do you have anything smaller?" but I usually get a "no...sorry.." even though I see a $5 in their wallet...argh
