Changing my schedule without telling me
Permalink

So last Friday I came in, checked my schedule, wrote it all down like normal, and everything was fine. The beginning of the week, I'm working, and everything is fine. I did notice that the cashier's schedule isn't on the wall anymore since someone took it down and never put it back up, which happens a lot so I don't think anything of it since I already had my schedule written down. Then today, I come in at the time I was scheduled and the clock-in thing asks me to get an override to sign in. I go to the booth and tell them and say that I don't know why it's saying that since this is when I was scheduled. They go ahead and override it and I open a register. A few minutes later, they tell me they don't see me listed on the break sheet and ask if I was really supposed to come in. I tell them yes and ask them if they have the schedule so they can check it. After looking around for 10 minutes, they finally find the schedule and see that someone had written in that today is my off day now and that now I work Friday (which was supposed to be my off day) and Saturday is changed as well, which I was never told about. They tell me to go ahead and work for 4 hours today then and then work tomorrow and saturday for the newly scheduled times.

The problem is that this isn't the first time something like this has happened. Other than last week, for the past two months, they've constantly messed up my schedules, changed stuff last minute, etc. and now with them changing my schedule without telling me and not even hanging the schedule up for us to see, it's frustrating. I need time to actually take care of errands that I haven't had a chance to do in months due to them pulling stuff like this.

The other problem is that they originally had me scheduled to work mornings, so I adjusted my schedule for that. Now they changed it to nights. Great. I spent all that work adjusting myself for being awake morning and mid-day and now suddenly I have to adjust myself for night again... which I just adjusted myself off of yesterday because I always work night shifts in the middle of the week.

Does anyone have any suggestions on things to do? Cause right now, I'm about ready to start looking for another job. I'm tired of my job pulling stuff like this and treating me this way despite all the help I do for them, and how I'll do jobs for them that not a single other employee in the store will do for them.

Forgot to mention, they did let me leave today as soon as they told me my schedule had been changed. The people working in the booth weren't responsible for what happened, but they let me go home since I did tell them that I had things I needed to get done.

the union rep needs to know and be as specific as possible.  have these dates that changed. just remember, though, the schedule can usually be changed until noon on Saturday under contract so just because it says something friday doesn't mean that what it is.

They tried to change my schedule after it was finalized without notice. Penciled me in on a Sat when I had that day off. I did not come in that day. I got 10+ Calls from my job and when I came in the following day I nearly got 50 flavored of hell until I showed them a copy of the schedule. I ALWAYS make a copy just I'm case they try to pul something

I asked to copy our schedule last week and was told I could only have my schedule, not a copy of everyone elses hours. We have new managers again so the rules have changed to suit them.

Of course you can copy the schedule, i know someone who takes a picture of it on her phone every week. I always write down who I work with so i know what to expect.

THIS.  It's purely for defensive purposes.

Not all of this is necessarily true. Some differs based on a specific contract.

YES! and make sure you take the pic after noon on Saturday, and your phone time stamps it so they can't say it was changed within the time limit. If you go in to check the schedule and it's missing, go to your AA and request a copy. Kroger policy is that YOU are responsible for knowing what your schedule is, but they can't hold you responsible if the schedule isn't available for you to check. (I check mine every day for changes, and ask if it's missing.)

Ok so I've only been there almost 2 months, I was told by someone that's been there a very long time that the "written" schedule is supposed to be up by Wednesday at 3pm, is this true? Not the first time they have all of a sudden changed my schedule.  I look at my schedule online EVERYDAY and as of Wednesday night and Thursday morning  I had Friday,  Saturday   and Sunday off, worked until midnight Thursday and when I got home, all a sudden I'm scheduled Sunday when I was supposed to be off...
