ok, so what course of action should I take here, i'm new.. I started told I would be part time.. usually i've been working between 20 and 28 hours a week.. this week I have 36 hourswhich was a bit much but I was fine with it.. Schedule comes out today and I only have 12 hours.. I can't live on 12 hours a week.. If it is going to be this random, i'm going to have to look elsewhere for work.. any thoughts or suggestions? input or stories or experiences?
Theres always a way to get more hours if someone calls in from your department take it or change your availability just a little bit. I get between the hours you get sometimes 12 , but I live with it. Tell your supervisor can you get a little more hours.

This is my suggestion. Get out of retail as fast as you can. Kroger literally pays less to starting employees than any other company in the nation due to union dues (not including jobs based off commission).
Usually when you're new, they start you out on few hours. Occasionally they will give you more one week, then less the next, etc. On the weeks you don't have many, tell your department head that you're available to be called in if they need anyone and that you'd like more hours. That's what I did originally, since I got only about 12 - 16 hours a week for the first month I worked at Kroger. Now, I rarely get less than 35 a week.

RUN! I've been with Kroger for 4 years, and I've been dealing with this kind of sh*t the whole time. I'm still there because I don't have much of an option, I've been looking for another job almost the whole time, but between the job situation, and the fact that I'm over 50 and have hideous credit after 2 years of unemployment and 4 years of Kroger, nobody will give e a shot at anything decent.
