Ok so friday I was off work and i fell out of my truck into a hole and broke my foot/ankle now I work in the bakery and you need to walk to get stuff done my question is can they fire you for this or make you take medical leave? Im a little worried since i go in today and I have no idea about medical leave. Ive been there about a year so yeah.
Well they didnt let me work since i was on crutches and they said i wouldnt be able to come back till i healed even with a boot. So i got medical leave paperwork. Tomorrow i find out the extent of the damage seeing as how its in a splint and cant walk on it with out it hurting.
That sucks that you can't work with a boot on, I have a coworker who did something to her foot and wore a boot (but it was only for a few days) and they didn't care.
If you're wearing a boot but your doc did not put you on limited duty, then there's no reason for them to send you home, though they legally can if they feel that it impairs your work and could possibly cause you further injury. If you ARE on limited duty, they can. It basically means that you cannot perform the duties required of you. If this were work comp, that would have been an entirely different scenario. In work comp, if you're placed on light/limited duty, then the company is obligated to find you work that you can perform (as I understand it).
