I'm afraid I'm going to lose my job. My co-Manager made me pencil in an old schedule and wouldnt let me put it in the computer so the DM wouldnt see that she was over in hours and In overtime. What should I do? Isnt this wrong??? She refused to sign the schedules but had me pencil in the changes in my hand writing. She did this to two other department heads the same day. The store manager is on vacation. Please give me advidse!
CYA, document what that Co-Manager told you to do, get a witness if you have one and tell them to write you a statement because when that DM comes back from vacation, chances are that those schedule changes done in pencil in your writing will come back to bite you if the DM wants to make it an issue. You notice that the Co-Manager wouldn't make the changes but had you do it. If something doesn't seem right...it probably isn't. When push comes to shove, management will cover for management and throw a Dept Head under the bus when it comes to OT. Seen that happen before...good luck!
You always have the right to refuse. Stop letting them pressure you.
exactly. refuse and them them write you up.
You can't be written up for refusing to write something down on the schedule. It's the schedule makers responsibility for that stuff and schedule changes after noon on Saturday have to be mutually agreed upon.

No but the manager could find something else to write them up for unjustly. Like say insubordination.

Refusing to perform an action that is unethical or illegal is not insubordination; neither is refusing to perform an action that is not within the scope of authority of the person issuing the order.
