 Just about. You pay union dues every week and initiation fees. Initiation fees will also set you back about $5 a week. So, total, you might be paying around $12 or more to the union for your first ~6months.

 Correct. But you'll still be losing the money from union dues as well. Lower than minimum wage x2!

I had to pay an initiation fee.  But that was 9 years ago!

 UFCW 75 does. $50, and its taken out of your first check in a lump sum.
