My first back up leaves they got a store. So I start training another back up. Well this back up trainee one day takes a money order and cashiers it. This money order was bought by a customer who dropped it. She signed her name and cashiers it on her own # at the service desk. She was a good employee I thought. Never had a cash problems. She stated that she needs money? Really u was going to be my backup making 14 an hour. Now I'm short an office person right before thanksgiving. I just can't believe people think that they won't be caught. Anyone else got stories like this to share
We use to have this one guy who worked registers. Thought he was a gift to women, ATTEMPTED to pick up my girl until I told him it was NOT in his best interest to so so. ALMOST got ugly as he invited me outside in back with him. Anyway, he was ALWAYS counting money in his till. And NOBODY was allowed near him when he was counting. Well it turned out, he was helping himself to more cash to even out his missing hours due to slowness in our store. Well he was found out, not only was his job pulled from him, the money he helped himself to, was taken back. PLUS he was REQUIRED to pay a fine.
We had an A.P. Director who'd been with the store for years. She was almost ....UNCANNILY good at catching shop lifters. Eventually, she got promoted to salaried management and transferred to another store.
In almost no time being there, she steals SIX THOUSAND DOLLARS from their cash office. Got arrested, lost her job, damn near went to jail.
To this day I always wonder, what the hell was she thinking?? She had to know there are over a dozen cameras in the cash offices.
It just amazes me. It's almost always the person you put the most trust in. There is nothing worth stealing there. I need my paycheck more than a felony.
