Hello all, Baron von Rosentrowser, Duke of Squirrel, Representing The Grand Mid South Here. I say Dear Friends and co-conspirators of the CAUSE, I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving and enjoy your time with your friends and family. To all of my Fellow Brother and Sisters who have to work today...I Raise My Glass  and Give Thanks  for Your Sacrifice and Pain just So Greedy Corporate Mongrels can rake in every penny they can. I Hope the plates Of those aformentioned Mongrels are over flowing with turds and that they choke on those turds. Good Day And God Bless.

Thank you and I wish you much the same. Only bad part of today was doing the closing walk, find 5 doors of frozen that had gone down. Le sigh, was stuck there for a little while.

Our store fed us some good vittles... I was impressed. Turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, casseroles, etc. It was nice. :)

Lucky you. The store I'm at was constantly busy from morning to the time we closed at 4:00PM. Like every year, we have to stand by the door come 3:30 and start informing people how much time there is before the store will be closing and come 4:00PM, we have to start turning people away. I'm not talking just a few people and not just for a little while either. In our district, we're second only to a marketplace in volume and it shows. I wouldn't be surprised if at some point, we extend our hours on Thanksgiving given how much business we're ultimately losing by closing at 4:00PM.

Do people actually listen when you do that? At my store we always have those kinds of people who throw a fit when the store is closing. One time one of the managers was putting up a gate to stop people from going in the main entrance and a lady attempted to squeeze through while he was putting it up!  The manager told her "we need to close so that our employees can go home and spend some time with their family on the holiday" but her response was that she didn't care, she needed to buy stuff blah blah blah

Lady sounds nuts. We closed our doors and some customers were still trying to make their way in. They were turned away as the staff cleared the building. They weren't happy, but hey, you snooze you lose. They should have planned better.

They have no choice but to listen. We clearly post on the doors in big, colorful signs a couple of days in advance that we will be closing at 4:00PM on Thanksgiving, plus it's in the weekly ad. Come 3:30PM on Thanksgiving Day, I let people know as they come through the door how much time they have to shop and a vast majority are okay with it as they are coming in for just a handful of items or less. I do occasionally get rude people that feel they should be able to shop 24/7 holiday or no holiday (surprisingly enough, more so on Christmas Eve than any other early close day) but generally speaking, most listen and are okay with it. I cut people as much slack as I can on days where we close early, going so far as to tell people that are walking up from the parking lot one minute before close that if they're in the parking lot, they can come in, but anyone else that pulls into the lot after that gets turned away. These people almost always just want one or two things, so I let them in and they appreciate that.
