When your part time does that mean you have to work 30 something hours every single week. And also can they fire you for requesting off too often. I have a sick family member who needs to be looked after, and when i requested next week Saturday and Sunday off, my manager told me that i can't do that even with a sick family member. Yea i understand that im new, but im past probation . Also i have always been on time and always have completed any task given to me promptly and correctly.
Are you union? Typically, part-timers cannot be forced to work more than 28 hours. If they schedule you for more, you can request a reduction by Saturday noon.
As for requests, there just that, requests. The most they can do is not honor them. If someone else requests the same day off though and you instead have to work it, you can raise a stink if you have more seniority.

Yea were union down here in texas for krogers, the thing about it is i was told exactly that depending on the needs of the buisness i will have to work the scheduled hours. it just doesnt seem right to me that i "have" to work 30 plus hours every week be it because of the needs of the buisness or what else. I also understand about a request being just a request but still given my situation i thought perhaps they would be much more lenient on my behalf. and its not like im asking for a whole week off, im just asking for only 2 days. Also to my knowledge no one requested off the two days i requested off.
