Well ive been in college for about 2 years now. Every job ive been to ive never had to show my school schedule to "prove" for lack of better words that im going to college. But yesterday the new schedule writer asked me for a copy of my school schedule. I told him i didnt have it on me and that i just needed off tuesday and thursday because tuesday i go to college and thursday i work at another job. He then told me that intill i can give him a schedule of the college classes im taking that i cant have tuesday and thursday off.
Should i call the union about this? No one in any other department had to show their school schedule, **** they weren't even asked for it except for me. I don't see the need to have to show this to anyone.
...that kinda sounds ridiculous. I'm sure we're not hearing the whole story though. Just show him your school schedule. Are there other people who have Tuesday/Thursday off? Are you lying about not being aable to work those days? It's important to think about the schedule writer's pov too. I don't know you OP, so, I don't honestly know if you're a dishonest person or not. Plus, I have no idea what the other people in your department's availability is. This could be a legitimate case of "needs of the business."
this is a problem at my store too. we had a new dept head demanding transcripts and other extra documentation from students to prove when they go to school or college in order to get approved availability changes. she then schedules them during school hours and demands they work it.
