Social security card problem
Permalink

So apparently there was an issue back when they hired some people in my store, and now they need to see a lot of our driver's license and social security card. The problem? I can't find mine. I've called my mom and dad (they were the ones who were holding onto it) and they lost it. Now I don't know what to do. I told the person who needed it that I lost it and they said that Kroger was going to be fined 10k for every person who they couldn't correct. I'm afraid they're going to fire me over this. I could apply for a new card but they send it out in the mail, not immediately, and the deadline is 12/16.

Damn illegals.

Does it have to be BOTH driver license and SS Card? Will they not be satisfied with just a DL?

Nope. I brought in my driver's license yesterday and they said "you need both." So yeah.. kind of screwed here. :( I thought for sure my parents had it. They have my brother's but not mine and i don't know what could have happened to it.

Contact the SS office and they can issue you a temporary SS card.

Tell Kroger that you've applied for a replacement - show them the temp, inform the union, contact the labor board for your state, and if need be -- a lawyer.

Best of luck~

[edit:] Damned typos

just go to the social security office, apply for a replacement and they will give you a letter that you can use to verify the number until they get you the replacement card. that's what they did for me.
