not really as worried about getting paid for it as getting it off. i would gladly lose a personal day to improve my chances. i really need this day off. would you recommend that i just use the "day off" selection instead?

Yes. Unless you actually have personal days accrued, you wouldn't get paid for one anyway, so selecting it when you don't actually need one will only cause unnecessary confusion.
that's what I have done in the past to insure I get off, and my supervisor told me to stop, but if I see that I do not get my days off anymore, I will go back to using the personal day off request lol. she cannot stop what I do when I'm at home!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I always have gotten the day off when I put personal, but if I don't now that she was a b**** about it, I will start doing it again.

Go right ahead and piss your boss off unnecessarily if you want to but understand you are NOT getting any better chance of receiving the day off by doing it. Personal days and unpaid days off are handled the exact same way in eschedule. For either one all we do is select from a drop down menu either approved or denied.
