Insurance question
Permalink

I'm union, local 2 (Missouri). I work part time 20-22 hours per week. Does anyone know how many hours I need to work per week or month to be elligible for health insurance? Also, how long do I need to work to apply for insurance, is it 12 or 18 months? Last question is, IF I get an insurance, can I pay extra for my child to be insured, too? Please help! I have yet to see the union book, I have no idea how health insurance works and if I'm even elligible for one.

Normally you get a packet in the mail between 13 and 18 months with information about your insurance plans and options.

I'm not sure about the hours needed I've always thought it was ~30 on avg.

Normally you can add your child and spouse to your plan but that costs a LOT more than you'd think. Kroger is also trying to get that option removed from our contracts.... some have already accepted it. You'd need to speak with someone from your union to make sure about everything.
