I know people on this forum have already talked about e-schedule and what a problem it can be. Last week i looked at the schedule since i was on shift Friday evening. It wasnt till it was near my day off i noticed "no one" was scheduled to work after one of the other dairy guys worked the morning/afternoon shift (7am to 3pm). The one day i was off that week i get a call asking if i can come in and get the next day off instead. They must have gotten someone to work the evening cause there was no way i was going in since i was working the rest of the week.
Looking at new schedule it looks like it is happening again. The question is do they really look at their schedules and notice, "hey we have some problems here!" Or do they just wait and frantically call trying to find someone to work the hours??
Happens at my store sometimes too, though I think its just an oversight on the schedule writer's part instead of actual laziness. We once had no courtesies until 2PM because they scheduled a guy who was in the hospital from a heart attack to work 7-4 or something

There's very little oversight on scheduling. Store management supposedly signs off on them after reviewing it to make sure it's "customer 1st." But no, it doesn't really happen like it should.
Basically it takes someone who cares to go through every day and look for the gaps. if you have the aptitude you can do a good review in an hour or two.
these problems are is why they want us to "trust the system" and let it do the majority of the work. keep in mind gaps are color coded in eschedule and you have to override availabilities. don't let your schedule writer tell you differently.
i know my schedule is done by hand every week so i hold my schedule writer personally accountable for how screwed up it is

"trust the system"?? Sure if i believe that i should believe all those lovely ads they play in the store!!
I hold those who write or supposedly look over these schedules responsible or as you have said it "how screwed up it is".
So I look at our schedule for my department and it looks all messed up. Right as i am looking at it the store manager is passing by and also looks at the schedule probably to see who is working. He looks at the paper print outs for a minute or two and says we need to get these fixed this "schedule is all messed up".
