Stealing supplies
Permalink

Does anyone else have a problem of people from other departments stealing your supplies?

There are always people stealing our squeeges. We'll have a good one for like a week and then it's gone. The one we have now doesn't clean our floors very well because it's not made of the same material as the deli floor (not sure why when it's all connected). We had a good one last week with a foam ending instead of rubber but I go to use it tonight and of course it's gone.

I think produce is doing it but i don't know for sure. But this is getting annoying.

Its either Produce, Bakery, or Deli. I use to order squeeges all the time for the store, but they seem to have taken it out of the order guide.

If it's not in your dept's order guide, try the general store order guide. It's all cleaning supplies and such. If you still can't find it, tell me your division and I'll find it or get the number from my division and see if it works.

You may have to go hiding it or storing it where no one else can find it. Labeling it saying xxx dept use only, do NOT take, does NOT work due to them: A) not caring or B) see (A)

What I do, we are ALWAYS missing our cleaner bottles, they are ALWAYS being taken, is I lock it up in my locker where it CANNOT be taken. I've told other co workers in my dept to thoroughly hide that particular cleaner. It's funny to see another dept come in to "borrow" (take) our cleaner only to find it's no longer there.

No, I had the store order guide and its now removed. It seems as though it has to be ordered through another method not available to me anymore. I work in the Southwest Division.

It's called single blade something. I'll look it up tomorrow.

squeegees are probably on e-pro. I think only managers are allowed to order them like straw brooms we haven't been able to get straw brooms and no one  has been able to find them. I was told I could go to Home Depot and get some I just haven't yet. I have a hard time with people taking ex large gloves. And as for the different squeegees I just remember some are.  Maybe the Utility clerk uses them when they wash down the restroom.

Maybe you can do what the humane society did once. We have a bin in front of our store to donate dog food. Someone was stealing the dog food that customers bought. One day I was going in the doors are a camera was attached to the bin. It kinda looked real but was as fake as a $4.00 bill. The camera would move as you moved. I just stuck my tongue out at it and laughed. A few days later someone broke the camera you could see it was all fake plastic.

I'd rather not say store number because it's probably easy to figure out who I am if I say the number.

But I'm in Cincy/Dayton division.

I'm pretty sure the one you're talking about is the one they can still get but doesn't work well at all. I found that one in their own division's supply sheets too so they obviously can get it.

Not sure why it would be any different for your division so let me put forward that I don't think anything like a squeegee would be in epro. Same goes for brooms. They dropped the regular corn straw ones (tho they still have some tiny one for some reason) for a universal mop/broom/squeegee program. There is a single handle that fits different heads.

I think I remember why it's not in those guides anymore. They transitioned to a universal handle program a while back. It consists of a single 53.5" handle that pairs with push brooms, mops, regular brooms, and squeeges.

Is the one you need the foam one that looks like a long strip of foam folded longways and clamped in a long metal piece? Cuz I forgot about that before I left today, but I can get you the # when I work Sunday.

Sounds like your FE needs to step up the supply ordering, or if they already do it well, they need to start over ordering or taking things from other depts when they are needed.

When I came to my current store, deli would never order cleaning-related supplies and would take what they needed from FE without even the courtesy of asking us to order extras. They would always hit the supply truck before us so we got left with nothing. So I started telling my utility clerks to take what they needed from deli if they ran out.

That helped, but what fixed the problem was when one of my clerks started waiting til deli took their supplies and would take all the deli had of things we use and put it all in our locked closets, leaving deli with nothing just like they did to us. Haven't had an issue since.

we're always stealing the produce people to cashier so it's not a bad trade haha

but still... i'm sure we don't order like we should.

If you are having trouble getting someone to actually order supplies, I think anyone with cao access can ISO order supplies. Someone may have to do their own sneaky ordering.

We have a hard time keeping spray bottles on the front end.  Many of our spray bottles are repurposed "Water Only" or degreaser spray bottles.  It's pretty funny.

Our utility clerks keep their supplies in locked employee lockers.

Well we got another good squeegee, because whoever stole it actually only stole the pole part of it and did us such a *BIG* favor by leaving us the bottom part. So we found a pole and put it back together.

Tonight I decided to wrap tape around it and wrote on it BAKERY ONLY - STOP STEALING OUR STUFF. I wonder how long before it's gone again.

Probably 2-3 days at the most (being nice there) because:

A) they choose NOT to read and don't care, they'll do it anyway
B) See (A)

Well I think I found the item you need. The msi # is almost bound to be wrong but the upc may very well work, even across divisions. tmp_2014-03-02 16.48.41-1002634834.jpg

And, yes, someone misspelled squeegee.

I don't know how to do a supply order :(

But the next time one disappears, i should write down that info and give it to someone who can.

On the handheld, it's cao > 6 (iso ordering)

Then enter or scan the items to order. Esc then 1 to process order.

In isp on computer, go to 1 (order processing) then find the next open or empty order that includes the catalogs you're ordering. Highlight that order, hit enter, enter again on the first option, then the rest is pretty easy.
