Hell... we had a store manager fire 3/4ths the deli staff for theft in one day. I wasn't there yet, but it had something to do with some kind of scam regarding sandwiches, markdowns, and the steam table.
If the whole department is being threatened like that with write ups, it's likely they are fu$%^ng up badly and need to get it together.
If management is telling deli to get certain task done (provided try are given a REASONABLE time frame) and they are STILL not doing the tasks assigned then yes, they can and will write everyone up. And there's not too much that can be done about it..,
I have a hard time believing or understanding how everyone in a department can be written up.
How's it's supposed to work is, the dept. manager is given a list of tasks to accomplish; that person must then administer those instructions to their charges in such a way as to achieve the goals. If they are not happening, either the dept. manager is supposed to bring their complaints to their boss, at which point senior management is supposed to actively speak with/watch the people being complained about, which keeps the whole process objective......or senior management holds the dept. manager themselves directly accountable.
To write up an entire department simply on the objective say-so of one dept. manager is subjective, and completely re rails the proper, effective management process.
