While talking with another employee the topic of managers and being fired came up. In the conversation she told me there was a council that voted on if the person was fired. Does this happen in every store and does one person in management have the authority to just fire someone without consulting others?
That employee is either misinformed or just pulling your leg. There's no council that votes if anyone is fired. Only a member of management can fire you and they have to have a good enough reason for the union to agree with them. Things like theft and job abandonment are pretty much ways to get fired immediately.
