Depends on the terms of your contract.

Are you both full time?

Do you two have the same availability?

The time to file a grievance was by Saturday before noon.  Too bad, too sad until the next schedule.

I don't know why your so called friend is complaining to you but I would just play dumb if I were you.  If you were to give her some advice you might ruin your work friendship or she will say you told her to do this and make things tough on yourself.  Doing or saying nothing is the right advice most of the time.

Who the hell gets to 'pick' shifts? I'm aware of bumping, but I've never worked a position in Kroger where you could pick from a book. The department manager could say "I could try to give you 1st shift on Tuesday" but they could never guarantee any times for any days for any weeks for any employees. It's silliness.

A good friend would try and reason first. Is she after your shift? If she's after another shift similar to yours then by all means call the union, especially if management won't budge.

If it's your shift she's after, why not reason first? The only way she can bump is before the schedule is finalized.

We have select a shift "e schedule" and it goes by seniority on who gets what shift. Takes a lot of the problems out. But we are one of the few stores that are not union. I'm transferring to one in a fee weeks though!
