I wasn't scheduled, got a call "Why didn't you come in yesterday?"

This sounds retarded but both the paper schedule and e-schedule had me off Sunday and Monday this week. This is unusual because I normally work Sundays every week, but I sure wasn't going to bring it up since being off two days in a row rocks.

So I didn't go to work yesterday and today I get a call from my manager asking what happened. I was like 'what are you talking about?' and he asked why I didn't come in. 'Well durrrr.... I wasn't on the schedule'. Apparently it was just a scheduling mistake and my being off caused a big ruckus. The store manager was pretty P.O.'d that I didn't come in.... But I took pictures of both the e-schedule and the paper schedule and sent my manager a copy. He was like 'well I might have goofed, but for future reference, you're supposed to work the same days every week'.

Hmm... Tomorrow may be an interesting day, but as far as I'm concerned, I followed the schedule so I didn't do anything wrong. Any advice on how to deal with this if I get questioned about it? I checked the e-schedule just now and it *still* shows those days off.

My manager has done the same thing to me before. But hey, the schedule is king. Managers tend to be full of hot air. If you actually got in trouble (which I sincerely doubt would ever happen in this situation), just take it to the union. Make sure you have a copy of the PAPER schedule. Also, make sure you take the copy or picture at the (or nearest to) the time when no changes can be made (usually Saturday noon, but, depends on your contract).

So why does he even bother making out a schedule if he expects you to work the same days every week?

Exactly. People get scheduled days that are out of their ordinary schedule all the time.

Normally I never get off more than one day in a row. When I saw two days off back to back, I just thought, hey, maybe he's got some plan together and he's doing this to be nice. We typically get along great and he gives me good reviews, so I didn't think it was a big stretch.

FU11307, I took pictures (clear ones) of both the paper schedule and the e-schedule, so no one can print new ones to cover this up. I agree, the schedule IS king, and it shouldn't be our jobs to question it - it's *their* job to create it.

I doubt you'll get questioned.  New day different problems but I'm sure your dept head will try to cover their butt somehow

Similar thing happened to me. I was working a 5am to 9 am shift and left exactly at that time. My friend and his wife were taking me out to lunch for my birthday. Come the next day, my ASM called me into the office to ream me out and present me with my very own write up. I shown him the previous day's schedule, laughed at the write up and walked away. From then on I was REQUIRED to ask about short shifts. NO EXCEPTIONS. Did I do it?? Hell no.

Back when i first started i remembered getting called by my store saying the (paper schedule) and e-schedule were messed up and could i be at the store within an hour i was suppose to come in earlier (hence the mess up schedule). I wasnt blamed and i went in to work my shift which was only a 5 hour shift. I do take a picture of the paper schedule and look at eschedule. This eschedule thing is messed up if you ask me.
