I'm asking because I never change my it...... not just my time other workers as well. A coworker told me on the sly a manager who just got to our store did it, we had no problems before this jerk came thinking every one is available all the time...this time I'm really gone screw it!!!!
Managers can change your availability at anytime they see fit so long as they are not going outside of the availability terms you were hired on. I am a firm believer in the union and know the contract front to back, the union can do nothing about an availability change. When you put your availability in eschedule you click that you understand that it is only a request. Due to shopping trends changing with the seasons, an availability that was approved in April may not meet trends in sales in december, therefore the manager would have to change your availability.
If it persists I'd check with your union and see what can be done. Especially if you're a seasoned employee that's been established
Agreed.
No idea where the poster before you got his info, but it sounds like their mgmt has the wool pulled over the eyes of the employees to think they can change previously-approved availabilities at will.

How laughable.
dunno about that I recently read an open blog on kroger yammer about eschedule basically said the same thing they can change it at anytime depending on seasons and sales trends they also said never post a bad schedule because of a person's availability.

Even I, as an ACSM can go in and change the availability of any person in the store without their knowledge or permission, but that doesn't mean it was allowed. Once mgmt accepts your availability, they have to live with it, even if they decide later on that they don't like it anymore.
But say, management up and changes your availability on you, can't you go in and change it back or only manager and asm's have that ability?
Unfortunately, no it doesn't work that way.
In the context of this discussion, availability works just like time off requests. You submit a request online, but it has to be approved by mgmt before it becomes official.
