Requesting a specific time on a specific day?

I can't figure out how to do this on the website. When we used to do requests by hand, we could request a certain time we could work on a specific day. Like I have a dinner to go to on May 14th and I can only work 5pm, so I don't want them to schedule me 11-7 or something. But I can still work that day. How would I request that on the site without asking for the day off?

You will probably get farther by talking to your supervisor about it. Last time I tried to reserve a day on the internet, it was in pending status to the living end. When I spoke to my supervisor about it, he just let me off flat out.

I hate talking to my supervisor face to face so I was hoping to avoid it, but I'll give it a shot. How did you do it though, btw?

Usually talking to my supervisor face to face I try to think of a pleasant memory. That way I will be either smiling or seem to be happy. I can always save any gloom or doom or frustration I am having (such as when I have 'lot duty) for after I get off shift.

You might want to go in and change your availabilty for that day of the week and then change it back after the schedule comes out.

This doesn't work reliably.  I did it once so I'd work in the morning and got scheduled that night.  I was not pleased and had to work it.

I just asked nicely, told him a month ahead of time, and that was it.
