No one where you work is your friend

It doesn't matter if you have been there twenty years. It is like high school. What you say or do will be spread all over the store. Your managers will hear about it --- even the most petty things are not beneath your "fellow" employees notice.

I complained rather loudly about the recent joke of a contract a few weeks ago. Since then Big Brother has apparently been watching. Waiting for me to say or do something out-of-line.

Since, like most of us, I do not make enough to have any savings beyond my 401K, I cannot afford to lose my job, I now have to watch my "P's and Q's".

From here on out I promise to be just another one of the "sheeple".

Yep you got it right, nobody there is your friend, just do your job and get out of there.  I don't hob nob with any of them because I know how people are they will lie and spread gossip about you.

I have friends at work. We hang out to eat, drink, and hang outside of work.

The older employees all hate each other and collectively hate the younger employees.
The younger employees all like each other and dislike the older employees.
All the employees form friendship alliances and **** talk about the employees they don't like.
