Because management wrote up half of our store a few weeks ago! But I was not one of them. I think their just trying to weed out the ones they don't like. I was always a minute or two late just before the write ups. I work night crew and we had a huddle with management, just before the write ups and I felt like the manager directed the being one minute late statement at me, that they were going to start writing people up for it, and I'm glad I took it seriously. Now they mentioned that they would start writing us up for stocking to slow and not getting finished on time, so today I skip my breaks, and finished my work on time, and managed to take a break the last twenty minutes of my shift. The manager expects me to finish my aisles first and then help the other stockers finishes their aisles, because she thinks my aisles are the easiest. I stock the water and BigK soda aisle, and the bottled juice, cracker, cookie, aisle, and the Gatorade, potato chip aisle, and lastly, the peanuts, popcorn, Pringles, and beef jerky, aisles. She said that the other night crew stockers complained that I work to slow. My stock is all mixed up on the pallets and I would organize them for the correct aisle, so now to save time, I just stock it as I go, wheeling the pallets around to each aisle to stock. I think that the only things that are easy are the chips and smaller items like peanuts, and cookies, and what not, but stocking the bigK soda and water will wear you out.
Get a new job..that is bull**** you shouldnt have to deal with for the crappy kroger pay. The other stockers threw you under the bus..and they will continue if u let them.
Yes, I think that I know which one did it! We have one female stocker and just like I read on anther post about PMSIng deli workers she going behind my back to the female head store manager that's wanting to write me up. Also, a few weeks ago I got off on time and was shopping and noticed that the girl stocker was still working her aisle. The next day the head manager said not to leave until you ask the grocery manager if there is still work to do,and I can understand, because last week I had to stay over and help the little girl finish her aisle. They're just picking on me for some reason and the store manager ain't never happy, she is always bitching about something. It is like working for your Momma. If Momma ain't happy nobody's happy!
Is your store closed over night? Does your crew set off the truck onto carts? You are wasting more time by hauling them damn pallets around. Your management SUCKS. Your whole crew sucks. Broad assumption there.....yeah right. If you are skipping breaks just to run "your stock" and then have to go help them get done ......F THEM and your lousy azz manager. Really. How many are on your stock crew. Dont wanna know if they are older or younger than you....cuz that bull**** about old people f'in younger people over and vice versa is exactly that..........BULL****. Do your job. Tell your manager to F OFF in the politest nice way you can.....they will slow there role. FUGGGG ME THIS PLACE SUCKS
We are open 24-7 and yes they unload to carts, but my stuff they leave on the pallets, and we have seven stockers including the grocery manager. I notice that the girl will waste the first thirty minutes of the shift visiting with the guys loading and organizing the stuff in recieving, while me and two other stockers are taking stock to the floor. I should report her for wasting the thirty minutes, but it would probably do no good.
What state are you in? Are you union? Not that it is going to help.
You should not skip breaks.
I work nightstock. All aisles and work are easy. Some take a little extra time.
We do not get timed but my manager has tried to blame me and other part timers when he and the other full timer jerk around together in the "easy" aisles all night. I am familiar with the TSG times before we went to the DDP. Basically, we are allowed so much time to condition aisles and run 60 cases an hour. Sorting and spotting counts as running cases so it is important to do that quick! or run off the pallets. The old general rule is to run and condition 40 cases an hour but that doesn't work for an aisle that takes 30 minutes to condition and 5 cases to run. DDP would allow 35 minutes to complete the aisle. The old general rule would allow 7.5 minutes to complete that aisle.
In our store those are easy aisles...but those are 4 aisles in our store and we do not stock cookie and crackers(only condition).
Water is in one aisle(30-minute job not including 32pks and Kroger gallons, that would be an extra 45 minutes). Gatorade and large juice in another aisle(maybe a 1.5 hour job). BigK in another aisle(30- minute job). Cookies, crackers, pringles, jerky, popcorn and peanuts in another aisle(30-60 minute job).
The long, tedious aisles are:Canned fruit & veggies, then Asian food, ketchup, pasta, salsa, pasta sauce, and then the baking aisle on some nights.
I heard several years ago about the contract allowing firing people for not working fast enough. And being written up for punching in a minute late. Haven't seen it promoted at my store yet.
actually.....in louisville (midsouth) the pallets are kinda half assed put together. key refailing and the ddp (daily double penetration) are just tools made by fools who have actually never worked much in the store side. no wonder this country is doomed. yeehaw ima fight them dumbass politicians and corporate pigs and the lazy druggie people they have created....nuff pyscho babblin there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That was the previous anon's joke. Pallets are never organized by aisle. Supposedly, they used to, but now it's turned into a game of how much they can pack in a pallet without breaking it.
Ah the hell with that. Half of the pallets we pull out of trucks are already damaged/broken because of overloading. Same for the poor product that happens to make up the first three layers of the behemoth.
"The next day the head manager said not to leave until you ask the grocery manager if there is still work to do,and I can understand, because last week I had to stay over and help the little girl finish her aisle. "
Are you in the union? In my store, we cannot force you to stay, we can ask you to stay. We have a manager who will start a vendetta against those who won't do her bidding even if they're park time and have school or another job to go to.
Sounds like our old manager. You'll find your set schedule all screwed up, given the "wrong" requested days off, "mistakenly" given the "wrong" vacation schedule etc.
key refailing and the ddp (daily double penetration)
Ok, that is an awesome line. Not sure what ddp is (if it's a thing or not) but just the thought of Kroger double ****ing you daily, is spot on. I swear, if it wasn't for many of my co workers, and a lot of the customers I know by name, and enjoy chatting for a few minutes every day, I'd haul ass. I truly love that part. But the working like a slave, and do more, do more, do more and oh by the way, you're the only one working this department! is getting old.
Come work for me. I'm a night stock manager not at kroger but at a family market and I have only 4 people on my crew including myself. Truck nights I only schedule 3 including myself and we work on average 750-900 case trucks, condition the store and take care of the floors with no overtime. We stock as a team until the truck is done so I can ensure rotating is being done then one person breaks off and does floors while myself and the other conditions the store. I try to make it as fun as possible though as well as buy the guys pizza for lunch once a week.
Not sure which division, depends on the Union of that division. As a manager of a store in the Atlanta Division, to answer your question: Yes. You can be written up for that. Would I? No. I never write up anybody for tardiness if it does not happen often. For an example I would only write someone up if it becomes a habit that they aren't working their schedule; example: my dairy manager late 2 hours every day because he wants to work HIS/HER own schedule versus what is necessary, and because of that he's never there in time for a 9:00am milk order polling time - because of that I have to make out the order for milk. Why would I need a dairy manager if I'm making out the milk order? I'm okay with reviewing it for holidays, that's what I'm there for, to partner with that dairy manager and make a good order, but to do their job? No. If an associate calls me, whatever the excuse, I won't write them up - as long as I know what's going on I can be fair.
The problem for writing people up for 1 minute late is that I would have to monitor EVERY associate for 1 minute and the morale of the store would suck. Not even worth it. If you're 1 minute late, you're still late, but if I don't write up EVERY single person for being 1 minute late I won't write up anybody. It's just a waste of time.

Company policy states if I believe correctly that 7 minutes AFTER your scheduled shift is deemed a tardy, but in all honesty if they wanted to play games with me in that respect I would just leave on time every time if they asked me to stay over, which I do very often.
