Call the store where you're supposed to be working in for your tenure and ask for the hiring manager. Let them know that you need to clarify the training location.

Though, seeing that it was Mother's Day over the weekend, the lady who originally called you may have been out on vacation. Ah well, just try again at 9AM local time (since that's normally when 90% of things are running again).

Run! Orientation is this:

1. Learning about equipment you will NEVER use.

2. Not learning how to use equipment that will be VITAL to your position.

3. Hearing about how the union is great, even though it is Kroger's lapdog.

4. Answering outright stuuuupid questions like, "Have yall ever seen my sister who works at store xxx on 3rd shift?" And one person will obviously lie and say, "Oh yea I know Claire! She's such an amazing employee!"

5. Meeting other freaks that decided to take the same career path as you. There will always be the cool guy saying, "Kroger is just my fallback career until I can get a kickass position as a stay-at-home businessman." even though they left school after the 10th grade and don't know how to balance a damn checkbook.

Well this is what it's come to I guess. Kroger isn't much of a job, let alone a career. Learn a trade like plumbing so you can make decent money. Kroger used to actually be a great place to work long-term. Benefits were top notch and family coverage was the norm. Now spousal coverage is at risk of extinction and a workweek in excess of 20 hours is considered a lot. Just try not to electricute yourself at the baler with a bale tie. :(

Its easy pay.  Eight hours for orientation seems over kill.  I've never worked anywhere else where it was that long.  Considering that most of their hires aren't lasting more than a few months.

Orientation?  When I was hired, I was part of  a mass hiring.  We had a meeting that lasted maybe an hour and then we went on a tour of the store.  There was no computer training back then, or drug testing.  They just said show up at such and such time tomorrow and start to work.
