didn't get holiday pay

I worked 7.5 hours on memorial day as a cashier and didn't get paid time and a half even tho the front end supervisor said I would. On express hr it says holiday pay but is at my normal rate. Do I talk to hr? The CSM is on vacation this week.

Memorial Day is no longer a holiday because our union sucks.

unless you were hired back in the 60s you're not going to get time and a half. it's a byproduct of how kroger views us as slaves.

You dont say when you were hired. Im in So Cal. and you have to be with the company 3 years to get the holiday. That is for people hired after 2003. Old timers hired pre 2003 get triple time on memorial day. $60 an hour.

We get time and a half on holidays AND memorial day is counted as one!

I'm assuming you are in the USA and thinking of slaves during the Civil War era. Slaves back then were generally treated better than we are as Kroger employees, especially those of us lower on the employee ladder. For one thing I'm pretty sure the slaves got more than 15 minutes break during a day, or had an opportunity to rest for a few minutes after working in the hot sun outside, rather than being forced to jump right into bagging or customer assistance immediately after coming off a hot parking lot for an hour.

What the hell, customer ever says anything about being covered in sweat, I'll tell them the truth. That I wasn't given the time to take a few minutes to rest and tidy myself up. Pretty sure slaves were given the opportunity to use well water or a stream or something.

I've worked for Kroger for over 20 years and I never got time and a half on holidays.  I do get paid 8 hours holiday pay which means I get three days off that week.   For me,  anything over 32 hours in a holiday week is overtime. Under my contract, for people who were hired after the last contract was ratified, they don't get time and a half during holiday weeks unless they work over 40 hours.  So if I work 40 hours during a holiday week I get 32 hours at regular rate plus 8 hours at time and a half plus 8 hours holiday pay, which equals the equivalent of 52 hours.  A person who was hired after the new contract was ratified gets paid 40 hours straight time plus 8 hours holiday pay, which equals the equivalent of 48 hours.  In my division, only people who started before 1987 get time and a half if they actually work on the holiday.

I think for years Atlanta division has only gotten holiday pay for Christmas, Fourth of July and Thanksgiving.

of course now they want that 8 hours holiday pay back in favor of giving us a third day off.  screw that, i'm taking my extra pay.

Holiday Pay and Holiday OT are different Lines, Holiday Pay everyone gets unless they call off within the week. Holiday OT is the hours worked on the Holiday (Cincy/Dayton).
