The customers at the Smith's store I work at get so pissed off at us when we try to direct them to a new checkstand or to U-Scan. I've had a lot of people refuse to move and end up creating a line because they simply don't want to move. Our Store Managers get pretty pissed about it but agree that we can't force them to move. All in all, QueVision itself should be abolished. It does not work. Hell, even my parents get angry and complain to me about it saying how sometimes they feel offended and feel obligated to move to another checkstand and they don't want to shop there as much.
Many customers have a favorite cashier or two and want to go through their line and catch up with them as well as some have cashiers that they will avoid at all costs. I've had people refuse to move before and that is OK with me. And my feeling on self check out is they know it is there and will use it if they want to. If they pass it by to wait in line, that is their business.

I wonder how many of our customers even know what the hell QueVision is or what it does. Those television screens that look more like lottery drawings than anything else really don't explain away that much. Plus a customer can clearly see if a register is open or not. As a courtesy clerk, were I to go based solely on how I see our customers treat shopping carts, I would say that they are a bunch of uneducated slobs without any clue who don't give a damn about anyone but themselves. But that is generalizing so I won't do it. I'm just saying........I really wonder sometimes how many of them pay attention to, care or even understand the numbers on the screen(s).
And the damn things really do look like lottery balls than anything else.
