New Hire Incompetence
Permalink

I have had the worst hiring time of my life. They are completely incompetent and can't even provide me with a uniform. I have to work in a few hours but don't have an apron or hat. I have no idea what to do with my hair whether I'm supposed to have my own hair nets or whether they are provided. Anybody know what to do?  I had to go in every day to find out what the next step in my hiring process was because they didn't tell me before that.

Relax.  What job did you get hired for?

Wear blue jeans the first day.  And compfortable shoes.  The uniform is not your problem.  When you get there, someone should open up a closet and get you a shirt and apron.  If they can't find any, then it is their problem not yours.  From there, find out what color of pants you are supposed to wear.

Welcome to Kroger where communication is the most important thing in our company!

They should have given you your shirt, hat, and apron at orientation. You can wear any pants you want as long as they're clean and don't have any holes or tears. Bu they have to be pants not shorts. Hairnets are provided via a hairnet station in your department if you don't want to wear the hat.

No.. do not wear blue jeans your first day. khaki pants, or black pants, or dark blue pants. Hair nets are provided, you'll go through tons of them. A shirt will be provided at the store if they did not have any at training. So will the apron. So will the hat.

Here we have to wear black pants only so that must depend on the division.

At orientation they gave us an employee handbook that tells you the dress code.

That was our standard for the last 6 years:  Black pants.  Black shorts only during the summer only when permision was posted by the timeclock.  A few times during the year we had a blue jean day.

Now, since we started wearing aprons, we are allowed to wear blue jeans at my store.  Ask someone that has a Kroger email account.  I believe the info was sent in an email about 6 months ago about the new aprons and pants dress code.

We haven't worn the black pants in over 20 years.  We wear khakis now.  We used to wear blue jeans.

Employees in our district aren't allowed to wear jeans ever. The new district manager believes them to look unprofessional, yet most of our employees are wearing those fugly green t-shirts for ToM.

AMEN. I hear a lot of **** about, "Those [insert perfectly normal clothing item] are too unprofessional!" and then someone decided we should wear Christmas green T-shirts with a SPANISH phrase on the back. Did someone in corporate JUST learn WordArt or something?
