new shirts to wear and they were t-shirts so slightly lighter than the usual, definitely a good thing around here

one time the bakery had churro samples and the power went out so we totally ate them after the customers were gone

the other sample recipes were really good, and I always talk to the food ladies, so I got an extra big fish taco sample

spanish language music on the store radio!!! our radio plays way too much country and horrible "adult contemporary" type stuff and I like hearing new things

I did like the music, but everything else was pretty boring to me. I only saw a couple samplings and the T-shirts looked like they were designed by a 12 year old who just learned about PDN.

Taste of Mexico official ended yesterday here. We're back to our true blue shirts again!

The shirts were more comfy but those aprons sure weren't. I'm glad my store had enough shirts to give them to deli/bakery employees because the strap on the apron really rubbed on my neck and was annoying as hell.

I did a demo for Taste of Mexico that was awesome. I fried corn tortillas in olive oil, served it with the Kroger brand Chicken Tinga, Pico De Gallo, produce guacamole, and a special sauce I made using the mexican sour cream from Diary, Kroger Mayo, and Private Selection Spanish Smoked Paprika.

Such a big fail at our mostly white store...I think customers enjoyed laughing at the whole thing...so I guess they are the winners and as always the employees are the losers.

Our bakery got kudos from a lot of the customers for the fresh made churros. I work in a border state so the demographic worked.

I did get customers at the desk telling me they would be very offended if they didn't do this promotion for many cultures. I was told Italy was next. So far nothing, and the customers noticed. I'm going to make my own "Taste of America" shirt and wear it one day.

Fresh made churros?  Try fresh reheated.  From what I've heard, they're suppose to do one country every quarter.  If they do the next one in late September or early October, they should do Germany, not Italy, to coincide with Oktoberfest.

When will we have a taste of Russia? I'd love to walk around in a shirt with a sickle and hammer logo.
