I work at a nonunion pharmacy and when we get certified our pay increases $3. Last June, my manager waited to do my yearly evaluation til after I got certified so the eval raise would take effect on my certification raise.
However, I receiver my certification raise on the paycheck I got the day he did my eval. He waited and turned the eval in the following Monday and I never got the 3% raise for that. My pay never changed until this year when I got my eval.
Does anyone know why that is? Or what I need to do about it?
When I first noticed it, I mentioned it to the lady who sends everything to payroll and she emailed them. They told her that it's because I got my certification raise so close to my eval they only gave me one. But that isn't right. Its two different raises.
That sux. Find a new job if you are that bothered by it. There are no rules in life about what fair is and isn't.
Sorry for your missed raise. A year later might be too late to try and convince HR that you deserve the extra $3. The store manager might help your plight but a year later might cause you to be sol.
Ok, Don't quit your job unless you can find one paying $3+ more money. I had a similar situation at a different company regarding my bonus that was cut from $1000 to $500. I foolishly told the company to shove it and ended up at Kroger! I went from making $14 an hour to $7.35. It was a poor choice at the time and it sucked. I am now at the top payrate as a part timer and have a decent path ahead of me at Kroger.
The company that I left already had 30 people quit or get fired and never replaced them. After I departed, they are still cutting positions and now they are sending work to another facility basically doing away with all the positions I was part of. So, being at Kroger isn't such a bad thing for me.
Don't let the loss of money get you emotional and upset. There are decent oportunities for better employment and pay but it is also good to be steadily employed. Don't be bitter.
