Union making me pay for their mistake?

I posted awhile ago about being "made to sign" a paper talking about union dues, not really understanding it, or that they hadn't taken any out of my checks for the year i'd been there. They never told me how much I owe either. 9.17 out of WHAT??

Here is the result:

(How do I fight this?also what is init?)

UNION ARREARS

10.0010.00
UNION DUES 19.179.17
UNION INIT 15.00

5.0

$5 is the initiation fee which i was LIED TO about when I joined (I was told there was none).

$9.17 is probably the weekly dues and they'll take it from you until the day you die or something.

active ballot- 1 $

Arrears- 10$

Dues 9.17$

Initiation 5 $

I assume only the arrears are suppose to be on here, because I was told I had already paid initiation when I was hired.

It was their fault arrears weren't taken out, now they are taking dues out for an undisclosed amount...and I don't want to support the unions political party for any amount, even a dollar, but was coerced to sign a paper doing so. I want to push for a 80 cent raise to cover the extra costs, but don't know how to go about it.

Oh you make less that 10.10  What do you think about our Union shaking down Walmart and McDonalds at the same time settling contracts where half the "union brothers and sisters"  make under 10.10

I think I lose around $7 per paycheck for union dues.

After being written up once and having management basically tell me 'We don't care if you quit' I am happy to be in the union --- if for anything else, hopefully having someone to back my ass up if I get written up again. I refused to sign that last one.

What's worse, having someone lie to you and take $473 a year, or having some insufferable slacker lose his job?

Why would you WANT to stay if you feel threatened? If you're FT I could understand as the job market sucks. But paying someone $7 a week to keep your unbearable 16 hour a week job is just ridiculous.

Some of us, actually, make it out with over 30 hours a week because we've been here so long.
