My store director at a certain Smiths store has summed up any inquiries I had about why we are so understaffed and treated like crap, these are his exact words, "The sooner you realize we don't give a **** about you and your family, the further you'll go in this company." What great words of inspiration, time to look elsewhere for employment.
You can bet your ass that is the truth!!!!!!!! And as for all those customers that we are "engaging" .....well they do not give a **** about them either. When are we going to stand up and fix this mess that has become the

As a courtesy clerk, especially over the summer, I am lucky to pull 15+ hours a week. We just hired some new hires and guess what? Almost all high schoolers. I'm at a point where if I get called and asked to work, I say yes, because I desperately need the hours.
Now if that wasn't bad enough, I have written this here before, but I write it here again: I was written up after coming off the parking lot. During the meeting between myself, manager and co-manager, I was basically told "You could quit today and we would be okay with that." That I could leave, we could part ways, and they would be "okay with that" (the exact words).
I was also told "You were told this is what you were going to do when you were hired."
Yea. That really encourages me to stay in Front End and to stay at my store and give 110%.
They didn't give a damn about me. They just wanted me to sign or not sign, nod my head and go back to work.
at this point i would find it entertaining to have a manager give me a write up slip. I'd rip it up and put it in my lap and say "Oops, can I get another one? If they have the balls to make out another one I rip it up again and put it in my lap again."
I never saw the write up they placed in my folder.

Back when I was a cc, I worked a 9-6 shift. Right at 6 pm, I went to leave. Our idiot assistant manager tells me "lot service." I said "I got somewhere I have to be." His reply; "I DO NOT care if you have to meet with The Pope or Queen Of England. Lot service." So I go out and grab ONE cart of the dozens of carts we have in the lot. I bring up the one cart, clock out and leave. There were 49 loose carts left to grab.

You should've told him that overtime is a variable that Kroger uses in calculating his bonus. The more overtime, the less bonus money he gets since it's going into YOUR check at 1.5 times your regular pay. He would've told you to sprint to that time clock if he knew better.

I think "many" would say the feeling is mutual about these managers. Since they "dont care" i work my shift but it sunk in for me there is very little reason to "push yourself" to do more even though they talk about so much.
