Will kroger rehire me back after resigning on my job at 16 years old
Permalink

When I was about 16 years old I made a mistake and drink a wine cooler at kroger in the bathroom stall and the manager gave me two options either resign not get arrested or get fired and get arrested  and  he would call the police I sure did not want to get arrested so I chose to resign at kroger and that Manager said he hate to let me go because he said I was a hard worker I even offered to pay for the wine cooler that I drinked but he said I could not do it since I was under age if I known at the time it would cost me my job I would have not done it in the first place because I enjoyed working as a bagger and cart pusher so much at kroger I learned my lession and  if I get hired again at kroger I would not make the same mistake again

Nope, if you didn't pay that's theft. The fact that you had the nerve to pull a wine cooler off the shelf and drink it on company property UNDERAGE is DEPLORABLE. You have absolutely no chance of being rehired

pssst.  Take your name out of your profile.

That was like 15 years ago.  The only one that would remember is the computer if a "do not rehire" flag was put in.

Apply and see where it goes.  Hopefully, you can find a better job than kroger.  The payscale is mostly for people that need extra cash until they can land a better job.  The payscale/hours are not good for new hires like it was back then.

Good luck.

so you're saying you didn't think stealing would cost you your job.

also after you drink something you would have drank it.

You are not the first teen to make that mistake and get caught.

At our store, we had a few baggers fired for hiding alcohol when taking garbage to the trash compactor.  We had another one that tried to sneak alcohol to his truck inside "empty" cardboard boxes.

I don't know how long it's been since this happened but you say you have learned your lesson so you need to forgive yourself and let it go.  Go ahead and apply again at Kroger and see what happens.  I would also suggest looking for other jobs as well, there has to be something better out there if you try.

You could try. Management was nice about it. I wouldn't have given you the option of resigning. But that's just my opinion.
However, if you are honestly sorry about drinking the wine cooler you could try again. Also, I'm not sure, but resigning does not include the reason behind it. Unless they call the previous store you worked at you may have a new chance. I'm not sure if the tack on a 'do not rehire' on your resignation or not. Consider yourself EXTREMELY lucky that management gave you a choice. Learn from your mistake and do not do it again
