current wage vs raise

Just wondering - about a week ago, the boss put me in as a supervisor due to a settlement Kroger reached with the union.  My ESS Kroger does list me as a floor sup and it does claim that I got a raise on the day that the boss "promoted" me.  However, despite the pay cycle changing (I was promoted the previous Friday, got a check at my cashier rate on Thursday), and ended the week on Sunday, my ESS Kroger site still says that I'm a supervisor being paid at cashier levels.

Is this normal?  Is it possible to be classified as a sup but be paid as a level 2 if the store manager feels like it?  The union is unsurprisingly just telling me to "wait a while and we'll see what happens".  I assume by Wednesday I should see the raise reflected on ESS Kroger as well as a retro check for all days worked from the day the promotion went through, right?

Just to clarify, what I mean is - let's make believe I made $5 as a cashier.  As a sup, let's say I am supposed to make $6.

What esskroger says is:

Last raise - July 10

Position - supervisor

Current wage: $5

(Made up date and wage)

Is it normal for it to say 5 instead of 6 until, say, two pay cycles?

I'm thinking anyone who has been promoted would know the answer.

Wait a couple more pay cycles.

Sweet, thanks.  Do you know if back pay would begin from the day of the promotion?  Or does it begin the first following cycle?

As far as front end goes, I thought your position could only read as courtesy clerk or clerk. Never heard someone being coded as a supervisor, and only the front end lead supervisor gets the raise.

varies by contract.  some contracts have FES, bookkeeper and assistant dept head premiums.  ATL, for example, hasn't had them for years except the backup premium.  in ATL everybody except the lead and backup are paid at the cashier rate to go with their years of service/senriority and the backup premium is 50c/hr.

the union there is toothless and the contracts reflect it.

Original poster here - I'm sorry about the Atlanta union.  And I thought our union was toothless (took them over a year to get a settlement with the boss regarding my seniority dispute and even then, no back pay).  I guess I should be somewhat happy that they have a decent contract (when they choose to enforce said contract).

But I just wanted to double check that question from earlier - will I be getting back pay from when the change was made and if so, can I expect it from the date the change was put in (a Friday) or the following week (which started Sunday) or the week thereafter (I.e. from yesterday).

Just to clarify, this is what it would look like:

Friday (promotion put in)

Sat

Sun (new week begins)

Thursday - get last week's check at regular rate as expected

Friday

Sat

Sun

Monday (today)

I've no idea whether you'll get back pay but if you do, it will be from the effective date your hr person input.

Original poster here - turns out I did get a raise, but they gave me a raise to the next closest wage ($0.05 cents raise) instead of at the same level of experience ($3 raise).

There's a small bit of contract legalese that says "when a level two becomes a level 3 (part time to full time), they get the same wage at level 3 or the closest next wage".

Kroger says that applies to when a level 2 becomes level 3 supervisor; union said that only applies to part time becoming full time.  $3 an hour is a huge difference for me.  Anyone else ever have this experience?

In my contract, you go to the next higher dollar amount and progress accordingly.
