So we took the associate survey a little while ago. Kroger decided to replace the two best managers with total nazis. One of them wrote up an employee for taking a 16 minute break. What the hell man

Yeah? Well, last time I checked, 15 =/= 16. Sounds like you're one of the problem employees who lack any sense of responsibility or character.

 While 16 != 15, sometimes you get accosted by customers,  on your way to and from the breakroom, which can take a few minutes, especially if they are looking for spices... While in the frozen aisles. So then you have to walk them down there... only to get asked by another customer where the bread is.

 My ears ALWAYS "break down" whilst on a break unless it's a DIRE EMERGENCY. I hurry as quick as possible to the breakroom. Breaktimes is YOUR time

But if you get stopped going back to the time clock.... your 15 minute break could easily become a "16 minute" one.
