What are they picketing against anyway? Is spousal coverage being dropped? I don't see how anyone working at Kroger could marry someone and live solely off Kroger income. The spouse needs to have some kind of job because $25,000 a year isn't enough to have a family with.

Kroger is trying to phase out top grocery clerks by being able to utilize courtesy clerks to replenish and condition the store. Also they're trying to cut on the minimum weekly guarantee of hours from 24hrs to 15hrs A week. Be able to remove full time status and Cuts in health care aswell as have meat wrappers and counter clerks be able to utilize the saws that only pertain to cutters. If this isn't happening at your stores, it can soon be implemented if this Gets cleared.
Well, IMO, with all these UNNECESSARY cutbacks, you get what you pay for. Why should we bust our asses when they want to take **** away? For example, if they " attempt to" lower wages to say $5.00 an hour, then you'll ONLY get $5.00 worth of work out of me. No more, no less.
I've been cosidering quitting and getting a higher paying job, and if I do, I'll still frequent this site being as it's a very good site, and some of the topics are quite interesting to read.
Did some quick googling and it looks like food 4 less employees are going to be going on strike. Ralph's employees may be asked to cross the line and go pick up shifts there. They can't force people to cross the picket lines, but many folks will be tempted by the OT. I suspect many food for less workers will still be going into work.
Seems like we have a lot of people who are working for the insurance coverage for their family. If not for that they wouldn't work there.

1. We don't have a day grocery person.
2. Our minimum hours are already worse at 12.
3. We already have courtesy clerks running registers, stocking, and conditioning as needed.
4. Nobody in my store (outside of FE) has ever gotten less than 30 hours if they have open availibility.

Is your store aiming to have a bunch of minimum wage, overworked employees?

Wouldn't surprise me. Our courtesy clerks on as utility clerks end up bagging several times per shift. Makes it a little hard to get their scheduled tasks done. Especially for sweeps. Kroger is all about using the least amount of labor for the least amount of hours for the least amount of wages in the most amount possible.
