Suspended from work
Permalink

I got suspended from work for calling my store manager  a ****ing bitch! This was upstairs in the managers office and out on the sales floor. I am everybody's hero at work.

LOL. Won't it be awkward next time you see her? They usually put people under close watch after they get suspended.

Nope I stand by what I said. I have never been suspended or written up. I was told to call the union.

You're leaving out the best parts.  Why did you call her such a name?

So you called the person who signs your paychecks a bitch and got suspended? Yeah, somehow I don't think calling the union is going to help you out.

Agreed. They've probably got you in suspension long enough to get your termination papers set up and ready for you.
Also, don't be surprised if her spouse/domestic partner comes looking to tear you apart. I've seen it happen at my store, and I've nearly best the living **** out of some guy who called my wife a slut because he had a bad day checking at Wal-Mart.

Ok she don't sign my paychecks. Second I was upset at her excuse in a email to me. So she wasn't there, the tech manager was there. I have never been written up or suspended for anything at Kroger.

As long as you didn't threaten her harm.....I don't they can or will terminate you for calling her that. I've heard employees say f u to management before. Be careful....because they will try and write you up for any petty thing they can now. It should be interesting to see how long they keep you out on suspension. If you would of threaten her, they would of claimed work place violence and terminated you probably. Yah....right now you're everybodys hero at work because you said something everybody at sometime or another wish they could say but haven't. But once your targeted by management, you will find that your fellow co workers won't be there by your side when and if you need them. Hopefully you have a witness to what was said, document everything.

Heroes are heroes because they do not merely what everyone else can't, but that no one will. You spoke your mind and voiced a vulgar epithet for management, which is something most of us (at times) would want to do (in the same way many of us fantasize about stripping off our clothes and running down the street while shouting incomprehensibly (maybe that's just me?)), but won't because we need jobs. Heroes, then, delve into the metaphorical underworld - hell if you will - and die for the sake of everyone else. They are reborn, not as the mortals they were but as legends, or symbols. Thus, while you may not keep your job, you will live on in the memories of those who do. Worth it?

It is a one day suspension. With a 60 day probation. Shouldn't it be 30 days? It my first "offense". I felt that I had the right to vent. Snitches get stitches don't they? Just kidding I wouldnt do that I'm to pretty for jail

Your lucky then. I've seen employees say "**** off" to management and be given walking papers. And that was a first offense as well. Obviously someone in management likes you and silently shares your beliefs for you to get a one day suspension

Calling your manager a bitch on the SALES FLOOR isn't what I'd call petty. That alone would be enough to get you terminated from ANY retail job. The union protects you from being cheated by management. If they give you a CA for wearing your name tag on the wrong side, then get the union involved. If you admit to calling your manager a bitch on the sales floor, you're out of luck. I know that I don't like all of my managers, but I don't call them bitches. I clock in, do my job, and clock out. The more you get tangled into gossip (whether it's true or not), the more you're going to hate your job.

I did not say that calling your manager the B word was petty.....read my post again.....what I said was be careful because they will try and write you up for any petty thing they can now. What do I mean by petty.....I mean stupid, little things just to harass the employee. I have also been in retail a long time and would never call my manager a B. Then again, until you have been in someone else's shoes, you really don't know how you would react in a heated moment!

These days, calling a woman a b*tch is akin to calling a black person the n-word which will definitely get somebody fired in an instant.

To the original poster...

Harassment because of one's race, color, religion, gender, national origin, age, disability, sexual orientation, or gender identity is defined as:

Verbal or physical conduct that (1) denigrates or shows hostility or aversion toward an individual because of his/her race, color, religion, gender, national origin, age, disability, sexual orientation, or gender identity, or that of the individual's relatives, friends or associates, and (2) has the purpose or effect of creating an offensive work environment, unreasonably interferes with an individual's work performance, or otherwise adversely affects an individual's work performance.

Examples of such harassment include the following:

  • making derogatory ethnic or racial statements, or belittling one's religionor religious practices
  • perpetuating stereotypes about one's age, gender, etc. ("You're too old tochange your ways", "This is women's work;")
  • refusing to assist an associate or customer because of his/her race, gender, etc.
  • disparaging the sexual orientation or gender identity of an associate,his/her associates, or a customer.

http://www.thekrogerco.com/docs/default-document-library/ethicspolicy

Your manager will probably use the harassment policy in order to fire you.
