Status 4 is the peons. The part timers who are stuck at 28 hours or less. They make up the majority of Kroger!
Status 3 is the people who are guaranteed like 34 (or so i forget how much exactly) hours a week.
Status 1 is the good old fashioned full timers, The ones who mostly have been there since 1985 and actually have full benefits. Oh and department heads and backups too. If you somehow become status 1 you have somehow hit the jackpot in the Kroger lottery.
For example, in my department, other than our dept. head, there is only 1 status 1 employee. The rest of us are status 4...yep, they won't give ANY of us status 3. Oh a couple of us (me included) have come close...then they catch on and go, "Oh, we need to cut their hours!".
Thanks so much 4hourrush. I'm in your category then because sometimes I get 38 or so hours when I'm the last one left 'standing' as all of the others quit. Then as soon as they've rehired, I'm back to 30 or under.
I never really cared, but now this latest problem has come to light that it will affect our health insurance.
Since that's the main reason I stick around, I might leave at that point.
I've never worried about work hours because the turn over is so high on the front end.
I've been there 5 years now and I don't even bother to learn the new hire's names because I know they won't be around in a month or so.
(I know that sounds bad, sorry)
