Okay, on average, How long did it take Kroger to contact you once your Background Check & Drug Test results were in? I had a group interview last week and haven't heard anything yet. Thank you!

Took almost two weeks for me.  I was told if I have lived in different states, counties it would take longer to get the background info. I started calling about a week into waiting to check back with them.

Took about a week or so. I just called the store. Sure enough, they were in and they never called me.

I was hired through a group interview as well. It didn't take long though, about a week.

It's real. Just like those little packets cops carry around that contain a solution on them. They turn a certain color when they react to certain substances they're checking for.

Depending on what method the employer uses, it can be done on the spot, or they have to take "samples" of X and send it in the lab.

What they did for us was hold a stick in our tongue while it absorbed saliva and any specimen found in our mouth.

about 80% of the people on front end in my store are on drugs so that's why i wonder if it was "real".

i wish they would do a drug test every 6 months. maybe then our store would run better

Kroger doesn't really care what drugs you take as long as you haven't injured somebody while working.

Blunt smoke all over your car? No worries. Just don't run over an old lady with a pallet jack.

There's a cost-benefit analysis assigned with drug testing. It's worth it to screen for hiring. Both the saying that you're gonna drug test them and the test itself work to weed out the hardcore addicts who can't get or stay clean long enough to get a job. But once you're already hired, why randomly test you? If you're negative for drugs, well, that's just a waste of money for the test. And if you're positive, well... if it was bad enough to begin with, they could have just waited til you knifed a customer in a tweeked-out state of mindless rage, and saved the money for tests.

It took a week for me. I was still at my previous job at the time so I put in my two weeks after I got the call from Kroger.

I used to have a kick-ass co-manager. When he gave me the drug test after interview, he said, "Well I can tell you're not on crystal so you got the job."

I applied one Monday. Was told to come in the next Monday for drug test. That next week I was going to the orientation. I didn't get an interview. I simply walked in and told the front end manager I was checking on the status of my application. She told me what I'd be doing if I were to get hired, and if I still wanted the job. I gave her a little background explanation of my past grocery job experience. I guess she liked that I had a bit of experience and told me to come back in the next week for a drug test.

All this was done at the register where she was ringing up customers. Easiest "interview" I ever had. I normally always get nervous and jittery about interviews. I'm just glad this wasn't really an interview, but more of "can i haz job?" - "sure, just come in and get a drug test. k, u haz job now". And now I am an wage slave.

Hey, when you called in did you just straight up ask "Are my drug screen results in yet?" I'm dying here. It's been 11 days since my mouth swab was sent in. Held it between my teeth most the time, but it did soak a bit between my gum and cheek. I brushed like mad, used mouthwashed, peroxide, and altoids. 38 days hours no pot.

Here is the weird part. Kroger hired me, even though they claim "the results" aren't in, although they MAY have meant the background check and drug screen which go hand in hand. And maybe they were just testing me. b/c one paper I signed agreed that if the results of my test came back positive i'd be fired. The "lab" the thing was sent to (and the thing didn't turn blue either, the swab thing) is GIS. GIS lab. General Information Systems, a background check company. No call, 11 days. If anything is positive they try to call you first, but if they come in at a certain time they may go to kroger first. Either way, I like my chances (BUT IM PARANOID). 38 hours. peroxide, listerine, and altoids 20-10 minutes before the swab. held it solidly between teeth for awhile and had decent dry mouth. They gave me a name tag, two kroger shirts, and a code for clocking in and out. and yet...no drug results apparently.

Anyone have any clue why Kroger might do this? OR how accurate/thorough GIS is with saliva tests (thc is all I'd have in me)? And what are my chances of passing this mouth swab test? If someone could answers any of these questions I would greatly appreciate it.

i heard the saliva things are only good to test for drugs in the last 1-2 days.

So are you saying 38 days without pot or 38 hours? if it's 38 hours you could be screwed.

i'm not someone who's anti-pot but why would you do pot 2 days before a freaking job interview or drug test. why why why?!

38 hours but Ive been reading up on this for ****ing weeks and I'd say like 95% of all people who take these mouth swabs in less than 48 hours (usually 24 hours before the test) and pass. And plenty of sources say that saliva only stays in your saliva for 24 hours AND I held the thing between my teeth for most of the 5 minutes and had serious dry mouth. One of my friends smoked in front of me, went in the next day for a saliva test and passed....

DUDE IDK I JUST DID IT HAPPENED 38 HOURS BEFORE MY TEST

but i brushed, mouth washed, and used peroxide and altoids right up to my test basically, and I held it between my teeth most of the time.

Hasn't it been like a month lol?  Am I reading that right?  Post is six hours old?  I'm sure your results are in by now, how do you not know yet?

Did GIS conduct the background check and drug test? (GIS: General Information Systems, a background check company). My Kroger has GIS contracted for both drug tests and background checks, and I took my drug test 13 days ago, but they said that the bagged up sample would be sent in the following Tues. So, from Tues, when the drug test was sent off, I've been waiting 7 days for the results, and nothing. BUT Kroger hired me and began training me, gave me a rough sketch of my work schedule, gave me my Kroger t-shirts, had me sign all the papers, gave me my name tag and showed me how to clock in and out, and I go in for work again soon.

One of the many papers I had to sign made me authorize that if my drug test results, which weren't in, came back unsatisfactorily while I'm already hired I will be terminated.Through this paper, I learned that this specific Kroger goes through General Information systems.

Anyways, I think its weird that they hired me and Im wondering if they're hiding something from me. if you could lend your thoughts I'd appreciate it.

But my most important question would be when will my drug test results be in? 7 days, 13 days since I took it? And who should/can I call to find out?

Thanks for your time, anyone.

No, I hadn't smoked before my test 38 HOURS before it, but I mouth washed an entire bottle of listerine in the two days leading up, brushed my teeth 10 times a day, scrubbed gums and cheeks and tongue. And the day off I drank a large milkshake three hours beforehand (high fat before hand suppose to held) and brushed like 6 times before getting in the car. On the way there I used listerine like twice, chain smoked cigs, drank dr. pepper, and then 20 minutes before the test I gargled a full mouth of hydrogen peroxide. Thoroughly rinsed my mouth out and sucked on three altoids on the way in. Held the swab between my teeth for most of the five minutes I had to keep it but it did drop into my gum for a bit and it was wet enough.

And it's been 13 days since I took the mouth swab. I'm hired and starting work and have been trough training (but I did have to sign a paper that said b/c my results weren't in they were authorized to fire me if they came back unsatisfactorily). I found out through reading the fine print that my Kroger does the drug screens (the lab that they send it to) with GIS General Information Systems.

THE MAIN THING I WANNA ASK YA MAN IS...

Did your friend who dabbed the night before and used mouth wash have his swab sent to a lab?

Also, thanks for your responses. The story about your friend (**** i've heard over and over) helps relieve the stress lol. The logical part of my brain says you passed no doubt. 38 hours isn't that shy of 48 hours considering how thoroughly I prepared my mouth beforehand, but still... 7 days since the swab was sent to the lab. No call, though. Which from what I've read about Kroger is always a good thing b/c they only call if you fail. And you'd think my test would be in by now for christ sake. I really want to call and ask, but that'd tip them off ....

When they hired you did they inform you that you passed the drug screen? I was hired by simply getting an orientation scheduled. I think I passed my drug screen, but its been 7 days and no answer. They hired me and said the results aren't in. But I've signed all the papers, clocked in and out, got my uniform, and am on the job. However, during all of the paper signing one paper said that b/c they were hiring me before my results came back, they could fire me if they came back unsatisfactorily.

How does this compare to your experience with getting hired? If you take the time to respond, I'd greatly appreciate it, thanks.

You're funny, but I've got a question for you (Or anyone). I'd really appreciate a response. I think Kroger is hiding **** from me, and I've got evidence of it. I took a mouth swab drug test 13 days ago. It was sent to the lab and reported on (results) ten days ago, and sent to Kroger the same day, 10 days ago. I called the specimen collector, affirmed that the results were in 10 days ago and sent to the MRO (Medical-something-something who sends the results directly to kroger) and was referred to the MRO, who I called, and they said the same thing, specimen reported on and report sent directly to Kroger. Already in, simply put. And everyone I talked to said "They should have it" or "Yeah, they have it".

So, 10 days ago (the day after my mouth swab) the test was done and "reported". This is a friday. Kroger calls the following thurs. I come in and get hired. I mean, they put so much work into the hiring process (for someone with apparently no drug test results yet). Name tag, t-shirts, training, papers, computer training, on the floor training, clocking in and out, already being paid!

Here's my theory. During the first interview (naturally) I said I take some medicine that should show up on the test, and I have the bottles. (Most employers will test for all amusable drugs, medications included). She said no, i don't think it will show. Me, knowing that I've never heard of an employee drug test that doesn't look for benzos or amphetamines, question her a little, skeptically. Then, I drop it. But I think it raised a bit of suspicion. So, they purposefully prepared my "hiring" papers, adding one paper I had to sign where it says  b/c you're being hired w/o the results being in, you must sign this so we can fire you if your results are positive. I think she watched me sign that paper.

Or the lab-testing agency (who pulled up my information) is not just wrong but lying to me, and the MRO (who also pulled up my information) is lying to me too.

Or somehow they're all wrong and the results aren't in?!?

Never attribute to malice what can adequately be explained by ignorance(or most likely laziness in this case).   Co managers are notoriously lazy about the hiring process.  Seriously.   They probably got the results but have been too lazy to get around to anything.   Just talk to the hiring manager.

Yeah I did talk to her, and she said they weren't in, and I don't want to ask again. If I were to ask again, I'd have to wait at least a few days. Does the lab agency call you if you failed?

Is the fact that my results are in and they haven't yet fired me a positive sign that I passed?

Since my results are IN, it would be beyond lazy to spend all this time, energy, and money on me, hiring me and everything else that goes align with that,  BEFORE taking a peak at the drug test results. You know? This is absolutely peculiar.

Do you think I passed?

You are killing me with this post. So much time worrying. Obviously you are not smoking good weed because you stay paranoid. The fact that you thought they were hiding your results for you is ridiculous. You may want to look in to filing for a disability and get your mental health right.
