I've been working at kroger for almost two years now and I would change my availability every few weeks because things come up and I can only work at certain times. When I got the job they told me they would work with my availability however now they tell me I can only change my availability twice IN one year and I agreed to that when I started. They said it was in the handbook except I didn't get a handbook..I'm in school and have to get volunteer hours for beta club and the days change when I have to work but now they won't go by the availability I put in the computer. Is the twice a yer thing true? Any help guys?

You can REQUEST a change every week if you want. It's up to your department manager to accept or decline it. Generally they'll accept anything where you become more available and they'll get confrontational if you ask for any weekend days off. The only thing in my handbook regarding that is the 'Sunday List' for clerks who request to be off on Sundays for each quarter.
So they were lying about the only twice a year thing? I'm on uscan and they say it schedules me on it's own however it doesn't change avail abilities for months after you submit it... Is that true

The computer does somewhat schedule you itself (depending on the schedule writer) but if you were told availability changes take months to take effect, you were 100% lied to by someone who told you that simply to get you off their back. They take effect the following week or the week after, depending on the day of the week you submit the request.
the twice a year is for permanent availability changes but you can make temporary requests every week in the system. they don't have to honor them though. and i'll let you if you don't have enough people in the dept it's going to be a pain.
