Okay here's the deal, I have worked for Kroger for going on 3 years and I recently transferred stores because I'm going to school in a different town. I was told that I needed to make a new availability for my new store and I was ok with that because of my new class schedule and stuff. My new availability was approved by management but they keep scheduling me past my set availability. I went to my manager and talked to him about it and he said that there aren't any shifts within my availability. I'm available 1-8 MWF and 10-8 Tue and thur and then 6am-10pm on weekends. Can he keep scheduling me outside of my availability? even though he approved my availability?
I would ask if you're full time but that's probably a moot question at Kroger.
Anyway, you seem very available. Surely they can get you some evening shifts on the weekdays. A lot of department heads think that students only want to work short weekend shifts, but you seem to be an exception.
No i'm not full time and I don't mind working long shifts on the weekends. I do have to request off 1 or 2 Saturdays or Sundays a month because of school stuff that is mandatory that I attend. What do I need to do about my manager scheduling me outside of my availability and him giving me a lot of grief on my requests off, which are for school.
If they have accepted this availability, they have to live with it whether they like it or not. You don't have to work shifts that violate your availability. I would suggest making it a p.i.t.a. to deal with by simply calling out for these shifts until the issue is resolved. They violate your approved availability, so you can't be punished.
I'd just straight up quit if they're going to be stubborn about it. Plenty of other stores are looking for reliable people that will work some weekends. Especially since Thanksgiving/BF and Christmas is coming.
