I woke Monday morning with a terrible pain in my body (I don't want to be too specific because I fear that I may be singled out) and went to the Emergency Room. I was given hardcore pain meds and told to go home and follow up with a specialist. I called the specialist and was told they could see me Friday morning. My note said I may return to work on Wednesday if the pain was gone. I woke up Wednesday and I was still in a lot of pain. I decided to work anyway, the schedule needed written and no one else knows how to do it. I was scheduled 7AM-5PM. I went in and did my job but the pain became too intense and I went home at 2pm. I managed to make it 7 hours. I went in today and worked about 3 hours. I tried to make it but it was so intense that I had to lay on the ground to get through the pain.
Fast forward to this afternoon- I get a phone call from my tech manager. She informs me that because I have missed 3 days in a row that I will need to file for short term medical leave and I will have to forfeit a week of my salary. (I am a salary manager and I get pain monthly). Is this right? Can they do that? I feel like she I am being punished for something that is beyond my control.
