Local 400 contract up next week
Permalink

I work at a Kroger in Local 400 in the Mid-Atlantic area, specifically Southern WV.  Well our contract expires on the 15th yet they didn't begin negotiations until the 30th of last month.  Last contract they began negotiation in August and still had to get an extension in October.  Anyone know if there is going to be a possibility of a strike?

Probably not. Your weak unuon is probably going to drop more insurance plans, change some higher level raises into bonuses, and maybe take your firstborn.

If you are in Southern Illinois you won't be told diddly about the negotiations  other than  its gonna be so hard on Kroger. Poor ol' Kroger....they sacrifice so much. Mr. union Rep sez " they really get put the wringer on this stuff".  And My favorite thing about is the contract will pass  without you ever getting to vote on it. All you will get out of 881 douchebags is well ummmm er ummm LOOK A SQUIRREL!!!! Kroger is so up their ass when they open ther mouths Rodney is wavin at ya. FUGGGGGG ME.

You must be under the same contract as I am.
Our contract expired about a year and a half ago.
Of course the previous contract was the same way.
It seems like central Illinois is the redheaded stepchild of Kroger.

I heard it's been extended to the 31st.

Yea, was extended to the 31st. Union has until then to propose a contract, then Kroger has until the 3rd to counter. Vote on the 3rd. Doesn't look good. From what I hear, they want to take part time insurance and retirement. Don't know how they can do that, and I may be misunderstanding. They pretty much want to bend everybody over this time.

Seems totally fair. Give the procrastinating union all the time they need and give Kroger a couple days to counter it.

I'd be surprised if it went that quick.  Likely new hires will get bent.  If you didn't hear it from a actual union rep (not a shop steward) take it with a big grain of salt.  Even if its from a rep.  They got to get the old timers to vote yes.

To my fellow co-worker in west virginia, the older folks here in Ashland, Kentucky are not happy at all with what we know at this point in time......yet after dealing with some of the folk from charleston 400 office  when they came into our facility......I personally believe its not going to fare well for those who have to work and be adults and pay grown up bills. Hope for the best and brace for a all too typical reality check.....

Just a quick up date to my post yesterday....talked to one of the folks on the negotiation team......Unless Kroger Corp brings something substantial to the table and starts to listen to the working grownups that make money for Krogers.....we are ready to go to Charleston WV and go out.
