While talking to one of the older employees that definitely knows more of the "ins and outs" of the store. He pointed out while i was on break that one of the workers was going to be moved to the front next week. This person worked in two/three different dept even the one i was moved back into. Seems he cant stay motivated and work on his own. I have noticed this person is all over the store rather than doing what he needs for his shift.
So if he is being moved to the front how much more is tolerated before they let you go?
Front end is normally used as punishment for people who go into the back at any point so.... it depends on what and how quickly they can get write ups on him.

That is what i was thinking, yet i dont think they would "necessarily" need write up to fire him?

I assume he's been there longer than the 45 day probationary period... so, management would need to write him up 3 times for the same thing, within 90 days, to fire him... unless he is stupid enough to do any of the following: theft, insubordination, or job abandonment. These are grounds for immediate termination.
Management can't just be like: "I don't like your face anymore - YOU'RE FIRED!"

Yep, it's near impossible to get rid of people if they know the rules. Especially full timers.
After coming from my break I saw that he was not on the schedule anymore for this week. Sadly this kid stayed in the store doing who knows what and if you arent getting paid "why are you in the store anyways"?
It's hard as hell for someone to be fired from my store. We are so short staffed they can't even afford to fire anyone. The only thing I think would get you fired is stealing from the store or getting arrested. We just had one of our floral ladies get fired because she got arrested for shoplifting.

My frozen full timer got arrested for drug distribution earlier in the year, was in jail for a week, no call no showed all week and is still working here. It really does take something special to get someone fired.

I don't see how he no call no showed for a whole week and nothing happened to him.

A lot of it is managements discretion. He got suspended for 1 day only because I pushed the issue. Let's just say that the management here at the time didn't really want to do anything about it. Keep in mind this store is located in a small town, everybody knows everybody & it's very hard to find night help. All of this combined and getting people fired/let go at night is near impossible. We have someone who's worked here since the store opened in 2003 and they have him eating stuff off the aisle just about every night since then, worst worker in the world and is still working there.

Eating food he bought or food he stole? If it's the latter then Kroger should fire him ASAP before other employees try to emulate him. Even in small towns (and I live in one), there is always a demand for "second jobs" like night stock.

He works chip & drink aisle. He damages stuff, and then just eats & drinks it. There was a time he'd just go over to the deli and grab the markdown chicken that never sold that day and just load up a giant plate, open up some hawaiin rolls and eat it, those days are gone however. (He's 500lb) I don't know why they've never fired him, honestly. Management has said they don't have cameras down those aisles, but they're full aware of his habits and have seen similar things in person. I think they just haven't ever cared enough to do anything about it. Considering he's by far our worst employee, I don't know why they don't push for it more.
And to those thinking, "Just move him to an aisle with cameras" that can't really work with the dynamic of our night crew. Everyone else is too old/injured to be lifting pallets of 2 liters & 12/24 packs of drinks. Physically it's too much for the others. Not to mention there is the pride thing, they don't want to give their aisle to someone who will just trash it.

lol. I thought I was the only grocery clerk that was super OCD about the aisles. Even I realize I can't do everything so I have to let other people work other aisles. The newbies have been running # 2 for the last couple of weeks. I had to run it last week. What a freaking disaster! Normal is an hour + to condition and run 60 cases an hour. It took me about 2.5 hours with only 50 cases in the aisle. I still didn't get it back to 100% of where it should be.
