Please stop putting electrical outlets on the floor. We spray down the floor every night. Even if we put covers over the outlets, eventually they break or water seeps in. And you know what happens then? They catch fire!
We had an electrical outlet three years ago that started smoking whenever we cleaned the floor, even if we were careful to avoid it. We kept telling management about it but they didn't do anything, and one day it caught fire and nearly got a poor girl who was standing next to it when it happened. Management showed up the next day to shut it down and fill it with concrete, but they wouldn't do anything about the other two outlets. You know what happened the next year? The second one caught fire. They shut that one down. And now finally the last one caught fire and nearly got someone else.
We have electrical outlets in the floor out on the sales floor for people who do samples but I've never heard of putting them in the floor in the actual deli prep area. Ours hang from the ceiling. Of course there are a few on the walls too.
Omg how stupid can they be. We only have outlets on the walls here in the bakery and i'm positive it's the same in the deli.
Right? And the thing is...we never used them for anything! Our slicers were connected to outlets in the wall and the scales had outlets under them. Why they needed to put outlets on the floor, and why the managers wouldn't remove them all after the first one caught fire is a mystery...
That is the dumbest design ever. Ours hang from the wall. As someone with a fear of fire, first time it happened would've been the last day I worked there.
