Tattoos?

I currently work as a cashier and I was wanting to get a wrist tattoo that represents my religion. It's small and almost unnoticeable. Will this effect my job? Does Krogers have a policy about tattoos?

Why are people so intent on marking themselves up with tattoos?  They're tacky.   I used to draw pictures on my hand when I was little but I got over that.  I don't need something etched into my skin to remind me of something.  Photographs and my own memory work just as well.

...aaaanyways...

This is one of those issues where the official answer is "Ask your manager." because it's ultimately their call and different ones will call it different ways.

I have several tattoos on my arms and on my neck and I'm a department head. no one really seems to care anymore. I look at it like this if they're going to judge me on my tattoos I don't need to know them.

I have tons of tatts on my arms. One is a work in progress. Ask your manager. Or if it's small and barely noticeable get it and don't say a word to anyone. The way I see it, YOU have to live with the tattoo. YOUR opinion is the ONLY one that matters. I've been ripped in for my tattoos. I politely said that I like them and I see no problem.

Some people respect that....
Other people: I am a rude ******* that needs to be fired right away.

I know that here, our zone manager doesn't like us having tattoos and tried saying that none of us could have any.

Our frozen lead got ticked off and said, um no, he has his son's name tattooed and he isn't covering it up. As far as I know, no one's told him anything more about it. lol

One of the girls I work with got one on her wrist. The policy here is that as long as it's not "inappropriate", then it's okay.

As to the person who calls it tacky: know what else is tacky? Ripping into someone else's decision to express themselves through body art.

I think the biggest question is this: What religious symbol are you putting?

While it SHOULDN'T matter, I'm sure our customers will flip their **** if they see a non-Christian symbol. They might tolerate a Star of David, maybe. But if you practice Islam, and get a star and crescent tattoo...I'm sure customers will accuse you of being a terrorist and demand you be fired. Unfortunately that's how iignorant most Americans are.

Oh and if you are Buddhist, Hindu, or Jainist, don't even bother getting the Swastika. Even though that symbol was corrupted by Hitler, and the religious symbol is actually different than Hitler 's swastika, customers will absolutely think you are a Nazi.

That depends.
Is it a snake?
I haven't worked with a geek yet.
Not that I am aware at least. :P
