Last week a lady came in and a bag of her groceries was left behind. While I was bagging the next customers food I noticed it. I asked the customer if she would mind if I ran outside to try to catch her, she said ok.
Today she came through my line and asked if I remembered her and the grocery bag she left. I said yes, and she handed me a bill folded up. She said "this is for you, I wanted to thank you for finding me and bringing my bag to me". I told her thank you, rang up a few more customers then I looked in my pocket and it was a $20 bill! I teared up, that was so nice of her. I was just doing my job and it was really my fault she didn't get the bag in the first place.
I accepted them either way. I just said they were a "friend of the family" and they were "paying back" what I "loaned" them. Tips should be optional if we want to accept or not.

Instead of saying you received a tip you lie and state you were conducting personal business on the clock!?! A smart one you are!

And you've never said hi to anyone you know outside of work while on the clock?
