Everytime I change my availability, my department manager that writes the schedules messes it up. I go to college so my availability is non negotiable. Last time it took him 3 weeks to get it right...then he gets mad at me even though I clearly put it online.

I was going to college during my full year with Kroger. yeah, availability comes down to how good your relationship is with your department head or store management.
Like I've mentioned here many times before, I was fortunate enough to have a management that understands that they do employ college kids, and allows them to have a schedule that doesn't interfere with our classes.
Have you tried talking directly to your store manager about having your availability set in stone?
