Store remodel

My store is having a remodel in a month or so. I assume we're closing down because I heard there'a a re-opening. So I'm just wondering, what happens to courtesy clerks during that time? Thanks.

I doubt they'd close down the store. What would happen is that the remodel will be done in phases.

For example, they'll start with the deli, and so the service counter might be relocated or temporarily closed, but the rest of the stores stay open. The items sold in the deli area would be moved perhaps to the other side of the store.

Then produce is remodeled once the deli is done. The deli people move back in the new deli department, and the produce stuff would be moved to other parts of the store.

This goes on until the ENTIRE store has been remodeled. Meanwhile, the front end will just do their thing. If they'll go as far as to renovate the front end, again, it will be done in parts.

After that, a planned date would be set for a "Grand Re-Opening".

During that time, you just do your thing.

UNLESS

They told y'all that you would be laid off temporarily to do a giant remodel and shutting the store down.

We had a huge remodel AND expansion last year and we were open the entire time.  The produce department was our floating department during the remodel.  It must have been in five different places during the remodel.

We had a remodel back in 2013 and we stayed open the whole time. All our departments stayed in about the same spot, except the meat counter got moved closer to the deli counter. We had to work around some things but there were no major shutdowns. I think the deli only got shut down once for the day, and the bakery did once too. We were just all scheduled off that day.

I worked the night shift during our store remodel.  It was loud, dirty, dusty.  They had to change the shelves each week and customers had a fit because they couldn't find anything.  After the remodel was finished customers complained for 2 to 3 months that they couldn't find anything.  Prices went up on almost everything.  Customers complained about the prices.  Gripe gripe gripe for months.  Then it settled down and things went back to normal.
