I was a bagger, then about two weeks before Easter I was offered cashier training. It's been two weeks since I started training. I can consistently run the register by myself (I did it for 6 hours last Thursday during busy time) and have handled just about every complication (coupons, voiding items, etc) or task of added difficulty (e.g. WIC, big orders that clog the belt, etc). My speed score is already creeping near the scores of current cashiers. So anybody here go through cashier training and know how long it took to actually move over to the cashier schedule? I ask because I keep going back to bagging until it becomes 'official' and I'm kind of burned out on it.

It really depends on your manager's needs. At my store, we have Parcels who are Cashier Trained who still Parcel unless we need them. The transition to permanent cashier can take a little while. For me personally, when I transferred over from our Food Dept to Cashier, it took about a month to fully get me on the Cashier Schedule, and then a little bit longer before I was permanently transitioned over (Half my shifts were in Food, half in CCK for a week or two, and another week or two before that where I wasn't even on the CCK Schedule).
Talk to your Manager about it. It could just be that your manager is waiting on finding someone to replace you from your current position so that they aren't short a bagger/Parcel when you transition over completely. That's how it's always been at my store when transitioning between departments or even just moving up the ladder. They don't want to leave themselves short handed and will usually put off the permanent transition until they cover your spot out. So I'd talk your Manager and see if they have any more information on it.
