Even the union is worried about "Make it Right"

I got a letter from my union a few days ago.  I usually don't read them, but I decided to read this one.  It mentioned how pharmacy techs within the newer marketplace stores are not part of the union, but because they can, Kroger took away paid benefits without notice.  It also mentioned how Kroger is using "gray area" to get rid of long-time employees. Basically, the "small things" that didn't bother them before can cost someone their job.   They talked about "I Can Make it Right" and how it scares them as it's a gateway to possible scamming and theft (something that we all know).

How could they think that such a program is a good idea? Even the union isn't all-in on it.

I agree the union should be involved if people are being fire for nitpicky reasons but as far as make it right, that's Kroger's business really.  If those jerks want to give stuff away fine, it's their business not the union's. (Unless an employee gets in trouble giving something away or not making it right the right way).  Kroger just plain sucks and it's getting worse each day now, not each month or year.

I was just told that many people have been fired over Make It Right. They have been accused of giving stuff away to friends, etc. So even though store management says we can never get in trouble for trying to use the program (only coached), apparently we can.

I agree with this, but some people just don't like dealing with a cashier that they don't know.  At that point, it's the honor system.

I'm pretty sure everyone saw that coming a while ago. Well, everyone except the dlpshlts that actually thought they could get away with exploiting it.

Never check out a social relation, never mark down things for them either. Get someone else to. Cover yourself.... Even if you aren't doing anything wrong, don't leave a door open for them to walk in with that accusation.

Except, in many divisions, it's not optional. It can be a fireable offense.
